We are thrilled to announce the inaugural year of our Teen Exchange Program! This exchange program is designed for 11th and 12th grade students during the 2012-2013 school year from Congregation Shaaray Tefila in New York City and Congregation Ohel Avraham-Leo Baeck High School in Haifa.
Shaaray Tefila teens will visit Israel (December 2012) and Ohel Avraham-Leo Baeck teens will visit New York (March 2013). This Teen Exchange program will be subsidized by Shaaray Tefila, Ohel Avraham and by a grant from the UJA Federation of New York’s Global Jewish Connections program.
About the Program
The highlight of the project will be the face-to-face meetings in Haifa and New York. Students will join in socialization, study, touring and hands-on projects (such as social action projects to in each of their local communities).
Before and after the exchange visits, the teens will discuss via emails, web forums, phone calls and video conference the issues concerning each community. The two groups will learn from each other about life in each community. This program and exchange will result in a special bond between the students from each side and will enable our students to enrich their lives and
the life of their communities.
